COMPETITION RULES
ART. 1
The Competition is opened to organists of any nationality up to the age of 35 (thirty-five). A maximum of 20 competitors will be admitted to the Competition by the Secretariat (composed of the Secretary, the Coordinator and a teacher in Udine Conservatory, member of the Jury) according to their curriculum vitae and the application date (the admission to the Competition will be communicated by email by 7th August 2021).
Considering the conditions determined by the COVID-19 pandemic situation, art. 1 of the Competition Rules is integrated as follows:
“In the event that the number of competitors admitted to the Competition is less than 20 (twenty), the applications received relating to candidates over the age of 35 (thirty-five) may also be considered until, however, the maximum number provided for by the same art. 1 of the Competition Rules (20 competitors).”
ART. 2
The application form is available on the Academy’s website (www.accademiaorganisticaudinese.org) and must be completed, signed and sent to the following e-mail address
- copy of an ID card of the candidate;
- professional curriculum vitae of studies and courses attended.
ART. 3
The registration fee of Euro 50,00, not refundable and to be paid only as confirmation of admission to the Competition, which will be notified by email by 21st August 2021, can be paid by Bank Transfer to the following account holder:

ART. 4
Travel and accommodation costs are to be borne by the competitors.
ART. 5
The Jury will be composed of:
- M° Pier Damiano Peretti, Jury President - Italy (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst - Wien)
- M° Gustav Auzinger - Österreich ((Konservatorium für Kirchenmusik der Diözese - Linz)
- M° Francesco Di Lernia - Italy (Umberto Giordano Music Conservatory - Foggia)
- M° Giampietro Rosato - Italy (Jacopo Tomadini Music Conservatory - Udine)
- M° Tomaž Sevšek Šramel - Slovenija (Conservatory for music and ballet Ljubljana and Music school Ljubljana Vic-Rudnik)
ART. 6
Jury’s judgement is final and unappealable. The Jury evaluates competitors at the end of each round. The judgment of each performance is expressed in an arithmetical score as sum of the marks given by each Jury member, according to the criteria and modalities indicated in the specific “Rules of evaluation” prepared by the Secretariat and signed by the Jury members.
ART. 7
Before each round, competitors will show their ID card.
ART. 8
The competition will be organized as follows:
- preliminary round (in two parts):
- Lignano Sabbiadoro Parish Church, Francesco Zanin organ (2012)
- Muzzana del Turgnano Parish Church, Pietro Nachini organ (1750)
- semi-final round: Marano Lagunare Parish Church, Francesco Dacci organ (1774)
- final round (in two parts):
- Patriarchal Basilica in Aquileia, Francesco Zanin organ (2001)
- Muzzana del Turgnano Parish Church, Pietro Nachini organ (1750).
All the Competition rounds are public. The dates and times of the eliminatory and final rounds will be announced by publication on the website by 28th August 2021; the dates and times for the rehearsals of each competitor will be communicated by e-mail.
ART. 9
The following prizes will be given:
- 1st Prize: euro 2.500,00
- 2nd Prize: euro 1.500,00
- 3rd Prize: euro 800,00
All cash prizes are shown net of withheld taxes.
It will also be awarded the “City of Lignano Sabbiadoro” Prize to the finalist candidate, who has obtained the highest score in the preliminary round on the organ in Lignano Sabbiadoro. To the 1st prize winner will be given the opportunity to perform two concerts, to the 2nd and 3rd prize winners one concert. It is also planned to publish a CD with recordings of the performances of the 1st prize winner.
A certificate of participation will be issued to all participants admitted to the semi-final.
ART. 10
The Jury, according to the modalities established by itself and at its own discretion, may not award one or more prizes and use the respective money to increase any other prize awarded to multiple candidates ex-aequo.
ART. 11
In the event of radio, television or recordings, participants are not entitled to any claim against the Organising Committee.
ART. 12
Each competitor may provide for his own assistant to the organ stops (all costs will be at his/her expense) or use an assistant provided by the Organization.
ART. 13
The organizers are not responsible for any damage and/or incident to participants, other people or things during the period of the Competition or with regard to the abovementioned programme.
ART. 14
Participation in the Competition entails unconditional acceptance of these rules. For any dispute the Italian text will be the reference.
ART. 15
The candidates will have the opportunity to rehearsal on the instruments in the days before the Competition and in accordance with churches availability and with a calendar organized by the Secretariat.
PRIZE FRANZ ZANIN
As part of the Competition, in collaboration with Camino al Tagliamento Municipality, the “IV Prize Franz ZANIN” is awarded, in memory of the great organ builder of Camino al Tagliamento, a prominent figure in the art of organ building in Friuli and throughout Italy.
The Prize, worth Euro 700,00, will be awarded to the candidate who gets the highest score determined by the sum of the scores obtained in the performance of the piece by Giovanni Morandi, during the semi-final round on
the Dacci organ in Marano Lagunare. The Prize will be awarded during a concert that will be organized in the Pieve di Rosa (Camino al Tagliamento).
PRIZE GUSTAVO ZANIN
As part of the Competition, in collaboration with Codroipo Municipality, the “I Prize Gustavo ZANIN” is awarded, in memory of the industrious organ builder, to who the University of Udine has conferred the degree honoris causa in History of Art and Conservation of Historical and Artistic Heritage, for his commitment to finding new solutions (while maintaining a strong link with tradition) and for his contribution “to the enhancement of the territory and the historical and cultural heritage of Friuli”.
The Prize, worth Euro 700,00, will be awarded to the candidate who gets the highest score determined by the sum of the scores obtained in the performance of the final round on the organ in Aquileia. The Prize will be awarded during a concert that will be organized in San Valeriano Church, in Codroipo.
